Helpful Tips

Some useful advice on looking after your vehicle.

Regardless of whether you choose to maintain your vehicle by including a maintenance package within the agreement or not, it is important to ensure the vehicle is maintained within the manufacturers guidelines.

By doing so you make sure your car is safe, does not invalidate the manufacturers warranty and runs optimally which ultimately makes it less expensive to run.

From a fleet point of view you also have a duty of care obligation to ensure your vehicles are roadworthy and your drivers are safe.

Below are some simple tips to consider in keeping your car roadworthy.

Servicing and Maintenance

  • Regular maintenance and service is carried out by an approved dealer and servicing is done so in accordance with the manufacturers guidelines.
  • All services are recorded in the service book (often online also), failing to do so can invalidate the warranty and trigger end of contract charges when you return the vehicle.
  • If our vehicle suffers damage or faults, ensure you have them addressed quickly to avoid the issues escalating or becoming dangerous.

Frequent checks.

  • Ensure you make the below checks regularly between services.
  • Check Tyre pressures and for damage.
  • Oil, washer fluid, coolant and radiator fluid levels.
  • Warning lights and advisory messages.
  • Windscreen for chips that may turn into cracks.

Bodywork.

  • Clean your car regularly to prevent paint damage.
  • Polish your car 3 times a year.
  • Address any stone chips, especially if you can see the metal to prevent rust.
  • Always ensure any sign writing is done professional and can be removed at the end of contract without causing damage.

Also ensure you keep items supplied safe to avoid end of contract issues. If supplied initially the below all need returning.

  • Spare Keys
  • Locking Wheel nuts
  • Log book
  • Owners manual

Of course you can choose to take care of the maintenance of your vehicle yourself but if you choose to include you have peace of mind.
